Product Description

The CURVE treadmill burns up to 30% more calories than conventional motorized treadmills because the user is actually powering the running surface, thus engaging more muscle groups and achieving a superior workout. Research studies have proven that users are able to reach similar cardiovascular exercise levels and caloric burn walking on the CURVE treadmill in comparison to running on conventional motorized units.

The sophisticated curved design is the culmination of years of non-motorized design and development by WOODWAY with the key ingredient being WOODWAY’s patented running surface and near-frictionless drive system, allowing the running belt to move freely.

“The WOODWAY CURVE is going to change the way people look at treadmill performance training,” explains Eric Weber – Director of Sales and Marketing for WOODWAY. “As a completely non-motorized treadmill, the unique curved shape allows the user to accelerate and decelerate at their own desired pace. This is the first treadmill to truly react to the user’s abilities and not restrict them to the motors speed or acceleration while still providing you with the exceptional feel of the WOODWAY surface. We are thrilled to achieve this advancement while completely eliminating the need for electricity, making this product even greener than our already energy efficient treadmills.”

The WOODWAY Difference

There is WOODWAY and then there are conventional treadmills

WOODWAY treadmills feature an original (internationally-patented) design that was developed in response to conventional treadmill designs. WOODWAY designers set out to develop a safe and comfortable running surface for humans that also reduced the friction and wear associated with the conventional conveyor belt style. To do this they started with a ball-bearing transportation system and then created an entirely new slat style running surface.

This combined system provides a running surface of 38-43 type A shore hardness, which was found by the Deutsche Sporthochschule in Cologne, Germany to be the ideal "softness" to eliminate the harmful shock to connective tissue, while not changing proper biomechanics. Additionally, the low friction ball bearing transportation system alleviates the forces to all mechanical and electrical parts, resulting in less wear, less maintenance, fewer repairs, lower electric bills and an overall longer treadmill life.

WOODWAY Rubberized Slat running Surface

SlatFlex Running Surface

Comprised of numerous individual shock-absorbing slats, scientifically proven to reduce harmful shock to joints, muscles and connective tissue. Absorbs over 200,000 miles of usage without a single belt change.

WOODWAY Low Friction Ball Bearing Transportation System

Low Friction Ball Bearing Transportation System

Two bearing rails allow the running surface to glide, eliminate the conventional need to flip a deck and use significantly less electricity in the process.

WOODWAY Toothed Drive Wheel Toothed Drive Wheels and Zero Stretch Belt

The combination produces a perfectly even and accurate speed without slippage or bungee effect.
Treadmill Comparision
  WOODWAY Conventional Treadmills
Running/Walking Comfort 3/8 - inch vulcanized rubber surface and patented SlatFlex™ system absorbs force of footstrike at point of impact. Safer on bones, joints, muscles and tendons. PVC, cotton and nylon belt stretched between two rollers, over a wooden deck creates harmful footstrike shock upon impact.
Maintenance Ball bearing design means significantly less friction, wear, maintenance, costly repairs & an overall longer life. Belt never needs tracking adjustment and no deck wax is needed because there isn’t a wooden deck.

Requires weekly maintenance. Decks must be waxed regularly. Belts must be tightened regularly and replaced frequently. Decks must be flipped regularly and replaced.

Speed Range Zero start with speed increments of 0.1 mph to top speed of 25 mph, even with the heaviest users. (up to approx. 550 lbs.) 0.5 mph start speed, top speed 12-15 mph. User capacity 200 to 350 lbs.
Economy Super-efficient design decreases friction and saves electricity ($300- $800 less per year, per treadmill in a high use environment). Plus, durability reduces overall costs and even costlier down time. Replacement of belts and decks required every 20,000 miles on average. In high-use environments it equates to every 6-12 months.
Life Expectancy The belt should last 150-200,000 miles. WOODWAY’s can also be factory renewed, thereby doubling their lifespan. Assuming maintenance described above is done, a conventional treadmill should last approximately 40-60,000 miles.
Accuracy of Measurements Drive system eliminates belt slippage and projects true speed accurate within 1/10 mph. Does not vary with weight of the user. Absence of hood allows for better gait analysis and easier, less-inhibited stride. Display projected is motor speed, which varies with the weight of the user, belt wear and slippage. Front hoods and belt slippage hinder gait analysis.
